MOVIE PLOT: - More than ten years have passed since the events of the first movie, and Jake Sully is now the chief of the Omaticaya and is raising a family with Neytiri that consists of his sons Neteyam and Lo'ak, his daughter Tuk, his adoptive daughter Kiri (born from Grace Augustine's inert Na'vi avatar), and a human boy named Spider, who is the offspring of Colonel Miles Quaritch. Spider was born on Pandora but was left behind The RDA returns to Pandora to start colonisation efforts, to to the chagrin of the Na'vi. Bridgehead City, a new major operations base and settlement, is constructed. Quaritch, who was cloned as a Na'vi and uploaded with his template's memories from before his passing, is one of the newcomers.
Jake starts a covert operation to disrupt the RDA supply lines. In order to combat Jake, Quaritch leads a squad of other resurrected reconnaissance marines known as Na'vi "recombinants." Jake's children are taken captive by Quaritch while on patrol. Most of them are set free when Jake and Neytiri arrive, but Spider is grabbed by Quaritch because the man knows the boy to be his son. He chooses to hang out with him in an effort to win Spider over, and in return, Spider imparts knowledge on Na'vi culture to Quaritch.
Even though some tribesmen mock Jake and his children for having genetic human heritage, Jake and his family exile themselves from the Omaticaya and retreat to the Metkayina clan on Pandora's eastern seaboard where they are given shelter because they are aware of the threat that Spider's knowledge of their whereabouts poses to their safety. Lo'ak makes friends with Tsireya, the daughter of the clan chief Tonowari and his wife Ronal, and the family learns the customs of the reef people. Kiri also has a spiritual connection with the sea and its inhabitants.
After Tsireya's brother Aonung and his pals harass Kiri, Lo'ak fights with Aonung. Aonung and his companions lure him to a hunting excursion into the territory of a hazardous sea predator and leave him stranded when he returns to apologise at Jake's urging. Payakan, a kind and wise type of cetacean known as Tulkun, saves Lo'ak and becomes his friend. They are regarded as the Metkayina's spiritual family. Upon his return, Lo'ak accepts responsibility for his actions and befriends Aonung; nevertheless, he learns that Payakan is an outcast among his race.
